A medical student became victim of cyber fraud and lost 41,300. She was using global ATM card of a leading nationalised bank.
The victim, who hails from Nagpur, is pursuing MBBS in a foreign country. Her mother Nirmala Wahane had lodged a complaint with the Sitabuldi police in this connection
According to police, the victim was using global ATM card of her mother Nirmala, who is having an account with the SBI in Nagpur. For the last few days her daughter was not using the ATM card . It is learnt that the ATM card was not working, following which victim had stopped using it. However, on December 19 and December 20 ₹41,300 were withdrawn from Nirmala’s bank account using her global ATM card. When Nirmala approached the officials concerned of the SBI she was informed that money was withdrawn from ATM kiosk in Indonesia. Nirmala was absolutely stunned with this information. She immediately went to the Sitabuldi police station and lodged a complaint. Police have registered the case under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act. Further investigation into the case is going on.
