Evangelical Social Action Forum (ESAF) Nagpur celebrated International Day of People with Disability (PWD) in association with Jeevandhara Special School and Lt Umesh Haladkar Mentally Retarded Boys Residential School, Katol road recently at KT Nagar Park, Katol Road, Nagpur. Special Children, their parents, and teachers, staff of Jeevandhara participated in the event. Special kids actively engaged themselves in sports and other activity conducted by sports teacher of Jeevandhara school, Jitu Patil.
The chief guest of the program was former corporator Sadhana Burde, appealed the society to work together for equal participation of people with disabilities in an effort to build more inclusive and equal world. Other dignitaries present during the programme were president of Lt Umesh Haladkar Mentally Retarded Boys Residential School, Gulabrao Dhullarwar, principal, Jeevandhara Special School, Monali Dhullarwar, Vinu Mathew, Amit Das and Mercy Mathew.
Vinu Mathew addressed on the theme ‘Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring Inclusiveness and equality in the areas of ESAF’s initiatives.’
This year’s theme aims to promote empowerment, inclusion and access to reduce inequalities in the society. ESAF has been working to promote inclusiveness and equality by giving opportunities for people with disability be it in livelihood promotion or for built environment where these people can access any public spaces just like anyone else since 2008. ESAF in association with NMC and NIT has developed three inclusive parks in Nagpur.
The programme was initiated by programme coordinator, Livable City Project Nagpur, Rajendra Narnaware with the help of MSW students from Tripude College of Social Work. Senior manager MSD, Amit Das proposed a vote of thanks.
