Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune started various short courses like Screen Acting, Smartphone film making, and Screenplay Writing for the first time in Central India i.e. in Madhya Pradesh from today. After Pune, Mumbai,& Nagpur FTII covers Madhya Pradesh where the courses rolls out. The participants are from diverse backgrounds– actors, teachers, engineers, photographers, film makers & students and holding qualifications such as Ph.D., MBA, B.Tech, M. Tech, BE, B.Arch. besides PG and undergraduate.
The Course was jointly inaugurated in Saikheda {MP} today on 26.12.2018 in the presence of Shri. Phonsok Ladakhi, Course Director, FTII, Prof Sandeep Sahare, Coordinator, FTII, Pune Dr. Sophia Ansari, Registrar G H Raisoni University and Dr. Vinayak Shivankar, Director School of Agricultural Sciences G H Raisoni University. In his opening remarks Mr. Phonsok Ladakhi said, FTII has embarked on a mission to promote cinema literacy through short foundation courses across the country. “For over 55 years, Film Appreciation was just a once-a-year course, conducted only in Pune. In the last 8 months FTII has conducted Short Foundation courses in Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Guwahati, Srinagar (J&K), Hardwar & Srinagar (Uttarakhand) etc. FTII’s short courses initiative under SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television) and PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) are receiving overwhelming response across the country. Dr. Sophia Ansari, in her address emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary learning and said that the diverse academic and geographical background of the participants’ points to the interest in film learning across the society. She thanked FTII for organizing Foundation Courses at G H Raisoni University,Saikheda for making film education accessible and affordable, giving a unique opportunity to people in Central India to understand cinema from one of world’s leading film schools. Mr. Phonsok Ladakhi, Mr. Ritesh Taksande& Mr. Tushar Paranjpae, are the course Directors for Screen Acting, Smartphone Film Making and Screenplay Writing respectively. FTII is an autonomous body under the ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India. Its policies are determined by a Governing Council. The FTII is a member of CILECT, an international association of film schools.
Dr. Vinayak Shivankar, Director, School of Agriculturual Sciences, GHRU,proposed the vote of thanks. Faculties and students were present in large number for the auspicious Function.
