With drastic drop down in the temperature, Nagpurians are shivering from Saturday night. Even the temperature on Monday early morning was also very low. According to the meteorology department records, on Tuesday, the temperature in the city was five Degree Celsius. The intensity of cold wave has started increasing gradually from the
last week and the minimum temperature dropped to record low last week. As a result, evenings and early mornings are becoming colder every day.  Notably, on Saturday Nagpur recorded the lowest 3.5 degree temperature which is the record break low temperature of the town.
Prior to this on January 7, 1937 Nagpur recorded 3.9-degree temperature. The meteorological department said that the cold air from North India has reduced temperature in Nagpur. The department further informed that there is western disturbance near Pakistan and adjoining areas which is making impact on Himalayan regions. Due to this atmospheric condition, the central parts of the country will not get respite from the cold wave.
Apart from Nagpur the other districts in region too continued to experience cold weather as in Gondia the mercury dropped down to 5 degrees followed by Akola-6.7, Brahmapuri-7 Gadchiroli-5.8 Buldhana 6.7, and Wardha-7.5, Washim-7.8, Chandrapur-8.2, Amravati-9.6 and Yavatmal-9 degree Celsius. Due to sudden drop down in the temperature, People have started using warm clothes. Children, going school in morning are getting covered with sweaters, scarves, mufflers, monkey-caps, jackets and others and even the afternoon session students are also using the same while returning from the school.
