There was an atmosphere of grief in the legal fraternity of the city with the demise of Justice C S Dharmakari. A number of lawyers and reputed personalities expressed their grief and paid tributes to late Justice Dharmadhikari.
Anil Mardikar,
Former President, High Court Bar Association
Justice C S Dharmadhikari was a true Gandhian and Sarvodyi leader. Coming from a family, which has devoted its life to the independence struggle, he was an institution in itself. Many of the stalwarts and judges were produced under his able guidance. To name a few late Shri C G Madkholkar, Justice V C Daga and Justice G D Patil came and adorned the seat from his office. After his retirement, he devoted his life to social work and Sarvodayi movement and was associated with a number of prestigious institutions and social organisations.
Till his last days, he was engaged in social activities. Because of his demise, a huge void is created even in the legal circles he was a most respected personality. He left behind the legacy and justice and his sons Justice S C Dharmadhikari and Adv Ashotosh Dharmadhikari are the torch-bearers and will continue to do his work.
I remember when I was the president of HCBAS, we had started study circle for junior lawyers. Justice C S Dharmakari was the first speaker to deliver a lecture on ‘Internet and Law Book’ at the study circle. His demise is a personal loss for me.
Adv Shraddhanand Bhutada, former secretary, High Court Bar Association
Justice Chandrashekhar S Dharmadhikari was an ardent follower of Gandhian philosophy, a great jurist and a role model for the young generation. He will be always remembered for his motivating speeches, which encompassed his erudition and wisdom.
His humane angle is evident in almost all judgments, many of which have been trendsetters of sorts, which he delivered during his 17 years as a judge of the Bombay High Court. He was a 360-degree personality. Above all, he was an awesome human being. Always grounded and humble….despite numerous achievements to his credit, including a Padmabhushan. Compassion towards all living beings was the hallmark of his eventful lifetime.
