Nagpur Blues defeated Qidwai Club 1-0 in the football tournament organised during Khasdar Krida Mahotsav at SECR’s Motibagh ground here on Sunday.
Shahzad Khan scored an all-important goal in the 43rd minute. In another match, Ansar Club stating a spectacular comeback pipped SE Railway 2-1. The railmen were leading by 1-0 in the first half. Ayaz Ahmed put them in the leading position in the 19th minute. However, the second half was dominated by Ansar players. Playing aggressive game, Shoeb Ahmed restored parity in the 52nd minute. After an equaliser spectators witnessed a tough battle between two outfits. In the 78th minute, Shakeel Ahmad struck and gave 2-1 lead to Ansar. In the remaining time, Ansar succeeded in maintaining the lead. Mohammad Aqib of Qudawi Club bagged the Man of the Match title.
On the previous day, Rahul club defeated Big Ben 1-0 whereas Eleven Stat got the better of AGRC in sudden death.
Former mayor Atal Bahadur Singh inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Navneet Singh Tuli, NMC sports committee chairman Nagesh Sahare, NDFA president Haresh Vora, Iqbal Kashmiri, Eugene Norbat, Abdul Latif, Satyanarayan Jerpot, Dilip Gaur, Sanjay Tarere and others.
