Science Expo 2019 will be inaugurated on Wednesday by Dr. Pramod M Padole, director, Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, in presence of Dr Rakesh Kumar, director, National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, Nagpur at Raman Science Centre in the city, informed N Â Ramdas Iyer, project co-ordinator, Raman Science Centre and Planetarium, through a press release.
The exhibition will remain open for the public from 11 am to 5.30 pm till January 20. There will be no entry fee for the visitors.
Science Expo is a unique event to bridge the gap between science and society and is organised every year in the city with collaborative efforts of science & technology institutions, Iyer said. The objective of the event is to act as an interface between science and society. It greatly helps in creating awareness in the society about the research and development works carried out in various scientific institutions.
Science Centre and other scientific institutions in Maharashtra are jointly organising the exhibition to create awareness among the students; bring students and general masses face to face with practicing scientists; and also to motivate students about the benefits of choosing science as their career, Iyer said.
The visitors will have first-hand information on the latest developments in science, especially in the fields the collaborating institutions engaged in it.
Scientists and officials will interact with the visitors comprising school children, college students, family groups, and general masses as well. They will be explaining the scientific developments and works that carried out by these institutions along with the career prospects in the field of science and technology for the budding scientists.
A series of Popular Science Lectures (PSL) will also be organised during the five-day event.
