The Shankar Nagar sub-division of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and energy department jointly organised an awareness programme at VNIT under Electricity Safety Week.
Additional executive engineer and chief of Shankar Nagar sub-division; Mr. Gunale was the chief guest while assistant inspectors; Mr. Â Gulkundriwar and Mr. Deshmukh were the resource persons. Mrs. Ingle and chief; Gokulpeth distribution centre; Mr. Manmode were the guests at the programme.
In his address, Mr. Gunale appealed to everyone present in the programme to use safety equipment to reduce electricity related mishaps. Similarly, people must install RCCB or ELCB that would ensure that no mishap takes place and there would be no loss of life.
Mr. Deshmukh said most of the mishaps take place due to human negligence and further awareness regarding earthing among the people is also necessary.
Giving a word of caution, Mr. Gulkundriwar said before starting any electricity repairing work it should be cross checked that the power supply is completely off. Similarly, safety gadgets like earthing discharge road, gloves and other equipment should be used while carrying the work, he added.
Senior operator Madhukar Surwade conducted the programme and also administered safety oath to the participants of the programme. Assistant engineer and chief; VNIT distribution centre Vinay Gondhule proposed a vote of thanks. A safety book on electricity was released at the programme, which was attended by a large number of technical staff of Shankar Nagar sub-division.
