The sports carnival Aaghaz of Somalwar Academy kicked off in a grand ceremony with flag hoisting by the cycling team of Dipanti, Pratik and Yash led by Anirudha. Torch-bearer Aryan Deogade the star sports person of Somalwar School, Maa Umiya Branch handed over the beacon to secretary Prakash Somalwar to lit the torch and declare the games carnival open. A streamer was released along with the balloons by Rohit Somalwar and Supriya Kolwadkar symbolising the vibrant hopes of the enthusiastic sport persons which was flying high.
The event started off with skating competition for U8, U 10 and U 12, volleyball U 13 and U16 boys, kabbadi U-16 boys and basket ball U13 girls. The highlight of the day was the spirited performance by the tribal children of Saibaba Ashram School Tekada in volley ball match against the robust DPS Kamptee team.
Skating competitions were held in beginners, fancy inline, quads and professional Inline on a 100 metre track. There were around 250 participants, of which 55 gold medals, 45 silver medals and 50 bronze medals were awarded. The participants were from the classes pre-nursery to VIII and above.
Kabaddi Under 16 Boys :- Semifinalist: Somalwar School Maa Umiya Branch  (Sujal Hiwase 12 points),  Tejaswini , CIPS Kamptee and CIPS Kapsi. The semifinal and final matches will be played Saturday January 19.
Volleyball Under 16 Boys:- Finalist: Somalwar Maa Umiya won against Somalwar Nikalas by 3-2. Vansh Patel clinched the match by his powerful smash, DPS Kamptee won against Somalwar Khamla by 2-0 in a one sided match.
Basketball Under 13 Girls :- The Semifinalist are Centre Point Wardhamannagar , Somalwar Maa Umiya, The Achievers and K John. The final matches will be played on Saturday, January 19.
