The chess tournament organised under Khasdar Krida Mahotsav began at NMC indoor sports complex, Vivekanand Nagar, here on Friday.
In all 348 players are participating in the tournament including 67 FIDE rated. Earlier in the morning tournament was inaugurated at the hands of Rajendra Mundle Corporator Lakhan Erwar, Vanita Dandekar, Rahul Vasudeva,NDCA treasurer S N Parkhi, corporator Prakash Bhoyar, Gajanan Nishitkar and chief arbiter IA Swapnil Bansod were present on the occasion

On top board top seed Jayant Katdare had no difficulty in defeating Raj Kapse. On second board Vaibhav Raut got the better of Nitish Rathi. Pujjam Bansod recorded the victory over Omkar Shahane.
