We all remember Adnan Sami song “Mujhko bhi toh lift kara deâ€. Have you ever imagined of lifting up of a house that too, a permanant structure. For some it might be an impossible task. But yes, it is true.
The same happened with Aman Singh Mehta, a resident of Baba Budhaji Nagar; Teka Naka; Kamptee Road. Aman and his family stay in their own house constructed by his father Harpal Singh Mehta in 1993. However, during the course of time, the family faced a very unusual problem. With the makeover of the road in front of their house several times, the road height increased considerably. The first and foremost problem the Mehta family faced was that of water logging. During the rainy season, the water would enter their compound and would reach to knee height. To add to it, the water of sewer line would also accumulate in the compound as the sewer lines are old and narrow. The back water, particularly during the rainy season, would log in the compound, leading to multiple problems, said Aman, who runs a transport company in Wadi on Amravati Road.
He along with his family decided to demolish the entire house – measuring 1600 square feet, spread on the area of 3000 square feet. However, they had to give up the idea as the estimated cost of the same amounted to Rs 35-40 lakh. “We wanted to get rid of the problem but at the same time save the cost too and so we started surfing the internet, Aman said, adding on Youtube, we came to know about a technology where old houses can be lifted without damaging the structure.â€
The Mehta family then searched for the companies engaged in the work and found Singh Building & Construction Company from Kurukshetra, Haryana, who visited the house around one year back.
The family was still in two minds of whether to go for the new technology with some of the relatives expressing their apprehensions about it. “We visited one of the sites in New Delhi and after seeing the structure we were convinced that the technology is durable and served the purpose. Thus we finally made up our mind to go for the work,†said Aman, a father of three daughters.
Aman is very happy with the work as he and his family members have finally got rid of the problem. He says “I would certainly advice others too to go for it if they need.
Gurumukh Singh Guru of Singh Building & Construction Company said, this technology is invented by an Indian company and is also patented it. It is called as Building Lifting. “Giving details of his company’s work, Gurmukh Singh said a 2000 square feet house requires around 45 days. “We undertake the work with signing an agreement where we promise to finish the work within a stipulated period. Till date we have finished all our works ahead of schedule and our clients are very happy,†he added.
The work at Mehta’s house began on December 25 and would be completed before January 26, said Gurmukh, whose company has completed similar projects in Chennai, Haryana, Kerala and other parts of the country.
