Jyoti Chavan and Nagraj Khursane triumphed in 21 km men’s and women’s categories in the Surajya Daud jointly organised by Bouddha va Magasvargiya Seva Sanstha, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and Nagpur District Athletics Association at Mate square, here on Saturday.
The competition was organised in three categories i.e. Under-14, Under-16 and open for boys and girls. In the women section, Jyoti Chavan secured the first place with a timing 1.27.22 seconds. Varsha Bharavi of Mumbia Police finished runners-up with a timing 1.28.40 seconds whereas Nav Maharashtra Club athlete Shital Barai emerged second runners-up clocking 1.29. 03 seconds.
In the men’s section, Khursane of Central Railway clocked 1.08. 43 seconds to secure first place. He was followed by Nikhil Shende of Nav Maharashtra (1.11.55 sec) and Shubham Meshram (1.12.02 sec) for second and third place respectively.
Under-18 boys section, Track Star athlete Shadad Pathan triumphed with a timing 18. 54 sec. He was followed by Rishabh Tiwadkar (19.10 sec) of Eklavya Club and Rrohit Jha (19. 25 sec) of Jai Athletics Club for second and third place respectively.
Under-18 girls, 5.7 km section, Priyanka Halmare (23.21 sec) of Jai Athletics Club, Pranali Burade (24. 09 sec) of Nav Maharashtra and Vidhi Parihar (24. 26 sec) of Nahru Vidyalaya Hingna achieved first to third places respectively.
In three-kilometre, Under-14 girls section, Trupti Patle (Green City), Shreya Kirmore (Track Star) and Apurva Laghurwar excelled.
In the boys section, Sarvadhnya Chamat (Nav Maharashtra), Soham Dhande (Green City) and Rura Kurhe (Track Star) secure first to thrid places respectively. Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, MLA Dr Milind Mane, leader of ruling party in NMC Sandeep Joshi, Nagesh Sahare and Pramod Tabhane distributed the prizes.
