10-year-old raped, one arrested
An incident of a ten-year-old girl being raped has come to fore in Sadar locality in the city. The girl was raped around 20 days back, it is reported. The police have arrested Romesh Madhukar Netam (30). The girl, a student of fourth standard is from a very poor family.
According to police, she was roaming in the locality at around 9 pm on December 31 when Romesh noticed her and took her to a secluded place and raped her. The girl however, could not understand as what was done with her. On Monday she complained of some health problem, upon which her mother took her to Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, Sitabuldi.
The doctors seeing some injury marks suspected something foul and enquired with her about it. The girl narrated entire episode to the doctors, who informed the Sitabuldi police. Medical check-up revealed she was raped. The Sitabuldi police then informed Sadar police, who learnt that Romesh was involved in the incident. The police arrested Romesh and registered an offence against him.
Cache of swords found in Pachpaoli
Police recovered 10 swords brought from Punjab and arrested three people in this connection. The names of the arrested were given as  Kawanljeetsingh Darshansingh Patiye (55), a resident of Amritsar, Khushal Vinod Jaaiswal (19), a resident of Tandapeth, Nagpur and Nandu Wagh (21), Prem Nagar.
The accused had come to Buddha Nagar to sell the swords. Some local residents informed the police control room that some people had to come to the area to sell swords. The police reached the spot and while search recovered swords from them. Â An offence under Arms Act has been registered against them. Further investigations are on.
Rs 2.5 lakh stolen from marriage ceremony
An amount of Rs 2.5 lakh was stolen from the marriage ceremony in Wardhaman Nagar. Parag Mundhada’s marriage ceremony was in progress at Pagariya Lawns. A bag was kept besides Parag, which contained the gift envelopes. At around 9.45 pm a boy around 10 years of age fled with Rs 2.5 lakh from the bag. He has been captured in the CCTV while stealing the money. Lakadganj police have registered an offence and are investigating further.
