The State government has decided to set up Textile Park on the 169 hectare unutilised land of Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco). State Energy Minister and Guardian Minister of the district Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed the Nagpur Metro Region Development Authority (NMRDA) Commissioner Snehal Ugle to draft a proposal for the same and forward it to the government for approval. NMRDA has also been made a nodal agency for the project.
Bawankule said the proposal would be tabled before the Cabinet for approval within 15 days after it is received.
The land is currently under possession of Mahagenco, but is lying unutlilised. To give a boost to the textile industry in the region, State government would set up Textile Park on this land. Ugle will draft the proposal. She said a meeting of senior officers to draft the proposal will be soon.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of Standing Committee; Virendra Kukreja urged the government to provide space to traders from Gandhibagh in the textile park.
Bawankule also reviewed various developmental works in the meeting.
MLA Krishna Khopde, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, Zone Chairperson Vishakha Bante, Additional Commissioner Ravindra Thakre, Ram Joshi and others were present in the meeting.
