Following the disclosure about fuel theft at majority of the fuel stations across the city, there’s a major concern growing among the citizens, whether they are getting the right volume of fuel against the money they are paying for.
But there is a reason to smile as a city lad has found a solution to the problem. Thanks to the invention of Sahil Gurucharan Chawla, who has invented a new technology that would stop the malpractices in fuel dispensing.
The system is called ‘E-Funnel’, which has been granted patent (no.9,851,228 B1) in the US. 27-year-old Sahil, is a pass out of GH Raisoni College of the city and has been tirelessly working on his innovation since last four years. He got patent for it in December 2017.
Elaborating about how the system works, Sahil told TLN that E-Funnel is a small device that gets fitted inside the fuel inlets of vehicles or power generators. “It’s a cloud-based IoT device that provides real time data about the re-fuelling as it is taking place. It is compact in size and can be easily fitted inside the fuel inlets of power generators, heavy duty vehicles, cars and even two-wheelers. It keeps track of your re-fuelling and provides real time data in analytical format through a mobile app,â€Â Sahil informed.
Sahil further said, his objective was to make a better world with the help of technology. “Technology can help us many ways. It can bring more transparency in trade,†he said. The young entrepreneur added that though he developed the device for automotive, he personally thought the industries using diesel generators would be benefitted the most by his invention.
“Theft of fuel is more rampant at places where diesel generators are used. There’s a manual log maintained about re-fuelling as there are no meters or gauges to monitor the volume of fuel fed to the generators. E-Funnel will help to maintain systematic data about re-fuelling,†he said, adding, “I have also developed a system called ‘SmartDG’ especially for diesel generators. SmartDG can convert any diesel generator into an IoT-based smart generator. The device can provide accurate data about re-fuelling events, power breakdowns, energy consumption patterns and performance.â€
Sahil did not stop with the invention, but further succeeded to convert it into a reality. “Converting a concept into an actual product is the biggest challenge before any entrepreneur. There are tonnes of things involved right from documentation to arranging funds to getting a manufacturer,†Sahil said. But with his dedication and determination, Sahil managed to overcome all these challenges, and his concept has now entered production. With its success, Nagpur is destined to gain a respectable position on the global map as the home to one of the most useful inventions of all time.
