The Unit 3 of Crime Branch of Nagpur police busted a gang of vehicle lifters and recovered 27 stolen vehicles worth Rs 7,92,000 from them. This was informed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Sambhaji Kadam at a press conference in the city on Monday evening.
The stolen vehicles recovered from the thieves included 13 Hero Honda Splendor, 6 Honda Activa, 5 Hero Honda Passion, 1 Bajaj Pulsar along with two more vehicles of Bajaj make.
The arrested were identified as Anil alias Yadav Namdev Somkunvar (38), a resident of Patansawangi, Mujaheed alias Mujju Ansari, a resident of Kabristan Road, Mominpura and Nur Mohammed alias Sallu (19), a resident of Dobinagar. The accused would steal the bikes by breaking electrical socket of the vehicle and then start it. After stealing the vehicles, they would give them to their relatives in the rural areas of Patansawangi, Saoner and Digar. None of the three have any criminal record in the past, the police said.
The police team led by DCP Kadam comprising Police Inspector Jagvendra Rajput, Assistant Police Inspector Shamrao Choudhari, Police Sub-Inspector Madhav Shinde, along with Rafiq Khan, Shailesh Patil, Vitthal Nasre, Arun Dharme, Ramchandra Karemore, Day Bisendre, Rakesh Yadav, Harish Bawane, Vikas Pathak, Badal Mandhre, Raju Potdar, Satyendra Yadav, Himanshu Patil and Naresh Deshmature arrested the trio.
The police have registered offences under relevant section against the threesome and are investigating further.
