A head constable attached to Hudkeshwar police station in the city was caught red-handed by the team of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, Nishant Nagulwar and Rahul Chikulwar’s car hit a youth following which an offence was registered against them. Although a compromise was sought among Nishant, Rahul and the youth hit by their car, head constable Sanjay Gaidhane demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Nishant and Rahul. The duo then lodged a complaint with the ACB. After verifying the complaint, senior officials of the ACB laid a trap to nab Gaidhane.
According to the trap, Nishant and Rahul reached near Nandlal Shahu Sabhagriha on Hudkeshwar Road on Tuesday morning with Rs 20,000. When they handed over the amount to Gaidhane, the ACB team hiding nearby pounced upon him and caught him red-handed accepting the bribe.
The police have registered an offence against head constable Gaidhane under relevant sections of the IPC. Further investigations are on.
