The Maharashtra Electricity Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) has decided to hike the honorarium of its skilled trainees by Rs 6000 per month. The decision was taken by Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule following the demand raised by the skilled trainees. Over 1500 trainees will be benefited with this decision.
Mahagenco absorbs the eligible project-affected persons as skilled trainees. At present, the ITI skilled trainees get Rs 8000 per month for the first three years and Rs 10,000 per month thereafter. They get an annual hike of Rs 500.
The hike has been given following the demand by the ITI passed trainees to pay them honorarium on the lines of minimum wages paid to different contractual labourers in Mahagenco. The skilled trainees who have completed five year of service are paid Rs 10,000 per month and will now get honorarium of Rs 16,000 per month.
There are total 235 trainees who have completed more than five years of service. The total number of trainees completing more than two years of service and less than 5 years are 759 while those in the service for two years are 518. Mahagenco was spending Rs 1.33 crore towards their honorarium which would now be Rs 2.23 crore.
