Fourteen years old Mohammad Faizy from Toronto, Canada has become the youngest person in the world to fly a single engine aircraft solo. Faizy who was 14 years and 6 days old on the day of his flight, broke the record earlier held by his own cousin Mansoor Anis, who had become the youngest person to fly solo in August 2017.
Mohammad Faizy has a strong connection with Nagpur, as his mother was born here, and his grandparents still stay here Faizy flew a Cessna-152 aircraft for 20 minutes without having an instructor or any other co-pilot with him. Faizy was able to achieve the feat only after 22 hours of training. His cousin Mansoor Anis, whose record he broke, had taken 25 hours of training before embarking on a solo flight. Faizy’s mother Jumana said that Faizy’s flying school had sent the information about his flight to Guinness Book.
The 14-year-old has received the certificate of his solo flight from Brampton Flying Centre in Canada. The certificate read that Mohammad Faizy’s 20 minutes solo flight involved taxying the aircraft from parking bay to runway, a 15 minutes flight after takeoff and landing the aircraft.
