Top seeds Chirag Duhan and Heerak Vora clinched the boys doubles title in the MSLTA Yonex-Sunrise All India Ranking Super Series U-16 Tennis tournament at the MSLTA Tennis Centre, Ram Nagar, here on Thursday.
In a summit clash, Chirag and Heerak quelled the challenge of Anargha Ganguly and Yashwardhan Singh 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Maithili Mothe and Riya Bhosale bagged the doubles crown deeating Radhika Mahajan and Naisha Srivastav 6-1, 4-6, 11-9.
Earlier in the morning session, top seed Chirag Duhan of Haryana and second seed Heerak Vora of Baroda qualified for the singles final by beating their respective opponents.
In the girls’ singles semifinals, fifth seed Naisha Srivastav from Bangalore outclassed Pune’s Riya Bhosale in straight sets. In the other semis, seventh seed Karthika Vijay from Tamil Nadu surprised third seed Ishita Jadhav from Pune in straight sets.
In the prize distribution function that followed, tournament Secretary Vijay Naidu conducted the proceedings. The prizes were given away by Manoj Vaidya, CEO of MSLTA. Veteran coach Santosh Chatterjee and tournament Supervisor Avanee Gosavi were also present.
Vaidya encouraged the players to participate in such tournaments because of the exposure. Vaidya also complimented NDHTA management for conducting this tournament in such a professional manner. Few players were asked to speak on the occasion and they were full of praise for the organizers of the tournament. Parents, who accompanied their wards, were also complimenting the NDHTA team
