MLC Prof Anil Sole inaugurated the North East Youth Exchange Programme of the Union Home Ministry, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, New Delhi at Dadasaheb Kannamwar Hall of Annasaheb Gundewar College Nagpur. MLA Dr Milind Mane was the chief guest while Principal; Annasaheb Gundewar College; Dr Devendra Mohture, chaired the programme.
275 young boys and girls from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are participating in the six-day programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Nagpur.
The objectives of this exchange programme are to bring the youth of the North Eastern States into mainstream and to introduce local youths to the rich culture of North Eastern States.
District Youth Co-ordinator; Nehru Yuva Kendra Nagpur; Sharad Salunke gave a brief background of the programme. He assured the participants that all efforts will be made to make their stay comfortable..
Prof Sole, in his inaugural speech spoke about the diverse culture of India. He further congratulated the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan for organising the programme, which will ensure healthy inter-state relationship.
Dr Mane praised the people of the beautiful North Eastern States for their sincerity, hard work and patriotism. He said that they are surrounded by Bangladesh, Myanmar and Tibet and yet they have preserved their unique culture and values.
District Youth Co-ordinator; Nehru Yuva Kendra Bhandara; Hitendra Vaidya, appreciated the discipline displayed by the participating youth.
Kapil Adamane shared his earlier experience of Youth Exchange programme when he had visited Manipur.
Dr Mohture in his presidential address expressed his happiness at having this huge youth force from the North Eastern States in his Institution. He assured all co-operation and help required to make the programme a grand success.
The audience enjoyed a musical treat by participants from Tripura, Sikkim and Nagaland.
Shivrai Kulkarni conducted the programme while District Youth Co-ordinator; Nehru Yuva Kendra Amravati; Jyoti Mohite, proposed a vote of thanks.
