Vihari hits ton, Agarwal misses it by five runsÂ
Despite Indian Test players Hanuma Vihari’s century (114, 209 b, 11×4, 2×6) and Mayank Agarwal’s aggressive knock (95,  124b, 10×4, 3×6) Vidarbha bowled out  Rest of India to 330  on the first day of Irani Trophy match at VCA Jamtha Stadium, today
The spin duo Aditya Sarwate and Akshay Wakhare continued to hog the limelight and  shared six wickets between them.
The day belonged to Vihari who slammed 16th first class century after getting the reprieve twice. When he was yet to open his account he  survived big caught behind appeal off Yash Thakur. The batsman then capitalised on an opportunity and went on to score a century to help ROI cross 300- run mark after the collapse in the second session.
Rest of India won the toss and elected to bat first. If the first session was belonged to ROI, Vidarbha staged a comeback in the second. Mayank Agarwal welcomed Vidarbha speedster Rajneesh Gurbani hitting two boundaries in the first over. However Gurbnai gave first breakthrough to Vidarbha uprooting  the leg stump of Anmolpreet Singh (15) with 46 runs on the board. After losing first wicket Mayank Agarwal and Hanuma Vihari , who had a good outing down under gave respect to the good deliveries and punished the poor. Gradually they build up a good partnership and in the process Agarwal completed his 23rd first class half century. Vihari was less aggressive but found the boundary whenever he went searching for one.
In the 28th over Sarwate almost got the wicket of Vihari when the batsman was on 29 Faiz Fazal appeared to hold on at slip while the umpires  referred the decision to the third umpire. The  television replays showed that the catch was not clean and thus  Vihari survived. He then hurt Vidarbha more by hitting  next delivery for four to hurt Vidarbha more. Since both the batsmen dominated . At lunch they were sitting pretty on 142 for one in 34 overs.
After the lunch, Vidarbha staged a comeback in the second session by taking four wickets for 92 runs. Vihari smashed a six and then consecutive boundaries to reach half-century. Then Yash Thakur gave an important breakthrough by removing dangerous Mayank Agarwal . The batsmen fell five run short of his ninth first class century as he was caught by Gurbani on mid off with 171 runs were on board. Thus their 125 run stand for second wicket came to an end. After Agarwal’s wicket, the scoring rate of ROI also came down.
Aditya Sarwate who dismissed Cheteshwar Pujara in both the innings in the final got another prized scalp in the form of ROI skipper Ajinkya Rahane . Thanks to Sanjay Ramaswamy who took the juggling catch in the gully when the batsman was on 13. Akshay Karnewar trapped young Shreyas Iyer (19) in front of stumps and broke their 45 run partnership for fourth wicket.
Ishan Kishan who recently played for India against England Lions returned to the pavilion cheaply (2). At the stroke of tea, he played ambitious shot off Akshay Wakhare only to be caught by Gurbani on midwicket.
Even after the tea break, Vidarbha bowlers continued their dominance and wrapped up ROI innings by snaring remaining four wickets including that of centurion Vihari.
