The annual function of the Shiv Gauri Dance and Music Academy, governed by Indutai Mehar Bahuuddeshiya Sanskrutic Sanstha (IMBUS) was held recently at Scientific Society Hall.
The function was inaugurated at the hands of the chairman of the programme, Umakant Khadatkar of Surabhi Developers.
Dr Mukund Mahajan was the chief guest while, Shraddha Telang was the guest of honour. Introductory speech was given by executive president of the organization and Director of Raga Events and Beyond, Durvesh Mehar, who also informed about the organization.
Guest of honour, Shraddha Telang in her inaugural speech, said that the programme is linked with Indian culture and spiritualism, she also spoke about the concentration developed among the students due to study of Indian culture and art. Chief guest Dr.Mukund Mahajan called upon the parents to appreciate and encourage the inherent talent of the kids. He has also appreciated the efforts of the Society’s Secretary Bhupesh Mehar, who besides being an Engineer is also a Choreographer and Kathak dance guru. All the guests appreciated the performances of students of Shiv Gauri Dance and Music Academy.
On this occasion the students of the school presented a number of classical dances and songs, including Swagat Geet, Shiv Panchakshar Strotra and Bhajan, Thumri, Kathak Prambhik, Kathak in Teen Tal, Zhaptal,Rupak, Hori and Ravan-Jatayu yuddha was performed by Nritya Guru Bhupesh Mehar himself. The complete programme was directed by Bhupesh Mehar and supported by the senior students.
The Kathak dance padhant was performed by Rohini Kowe and Gayatri Dande. The music was provided by Vilas Dange on Hormonium, Dushyant Vyas accompanied on Tabla and AIR ‘A’ Grade Artist Nasir Khan on Sitar. Vilas Dange, Rajashree Mehar rendered voices to the songs and padhant while dance direction was done by Bhupesh Mehar. Prizes were distributed to the students who participated in the dance by the hands of guests.
The programme was compared by Drushti Kajalkar while Bhupesh Mehar proposed vote of thanks. The complete programme was conceptualised and arranged by director of Raga – Events and Beyond and supported by Sangdil Hirekhan, Anand Ingle, Sandeep Ingle and Akash.
