Different radio channels of the city organised various events to mark World Radio Day on Wednesday in the city. World Radio Day is an observance day held annually on February 13 to celebrate radio as a medium. The 36th General Conference of UNSECO took the decision to observe the day on November 3, 2011 following a proposal by Kingdom of Spain.
Giving the details of the activities organised to mark the occasion, Senior Producer; Radio City; Abhay Sahare said Radio City invited people, who witnessed some sea change in their life due to radio or got some inspiration or motivation to move ahead in life and create a place for themselves and share their experiences. In addition, the audiences also called up the radio sharing their experiences as to how radio influenced their lives. Moreover, the studios and office of Radio City were open for the common people to visit and have a first-hand experience of actual functioning of a radio station, Mr Sahare informed.
In a unique venture, Radio City invited the visually challenged listeners at its office to share their experiences. Some of them said that radio was the only medium of entertainment for them and they enjoyed it, Sahare said.
Radio Mirchi Nagpur celebrated World Radio Day by bringing together RJs from all radio channels across Nagpur.
Programming Head; Dhritiman Deb said that MJ Kirti from Big FM on Mirchi 98.3 along with other RJs were roped in.
The objective is to give radio listeners of Nagpur the best of all radio channels of Nagpur on Mirchi 98.3.
“It is also an opportunity for us in the radio fraternity to come together and show a united front to our listeners. After all we belong to the same industry and we are all brothers in arms. When radio listenership grows, we will all be sharing the fruits of that success,†Dhritiman said.
