Cyber criminals duped a police sub-inspector (PSI) of Government Railway Police (GRP) of Rs 4.25 lakh. The complainant Girishchandra Tiwari is a resident of Pardi, who has an account with State Bank of India’s Kingsway branch.
According to police, on February 20, 2018, some unidentified persons called Tiwari on his mobile phone and took details of his ATM on the pretext of porting the mobile number. The accused then transferred an amount of Rs 1.24 lakh from Tiwari’s account to other account. A complaint in this regard with lodged with Sitabuldi police, who started investigations.
Meanwhile, Tiwari applied for GPF amount for which he had to open a bank account. This time he registered his new mobile number. His GPF amount, along with salary was credited to the new account. However, the cyber criminals again succeeded to withdraw both the amount. The criminals after getting information of his bank account first time had changed the mobile number. With the help of online transactions they again duped him, the police said.
