Nujster Sports League (NSL) had an exciting Sunday wherein over 200 footballers participated in an intense, competitive football match. It was amazing to see such a dramatic increase in the level of football played by the teams. The skills and fitness levels have definitely improved since last year and the matches were much more competitive this season.
Match 1: Lighthouse Rangers vs Simmba’s Dynamos FC
In the first match of the third week, Lighthouse Rangers took on Simmba’s Dynamos. Though Rangers got multiple chances, could not convert it into goals. After missing two chances, the goal finally came for the Rangers when Aditya Bang headed a cross right in front of Gaurav Bhoyar’s feet, who easily placed the ball into Dynamo’s net in the 20th minute. Rangers defended well for the remainder of the match, Dynamos showed an attacking game.

Match 2: Hardeo’s Phoenix FC vs. Rohit’s Titans
The second match was an exemplary show of defence. Phoenix created many chances but failed to capitalize on any of them until Varun Kinkhede finally headed the ball in the 44th minute and gave Phoenix FC the lead. After conceding a goal, Titans went all out attacking and were looking to equalise, which came in the 50th minute through Kushal Kamdi of Titans. The match ended in a draw with 1 goal each.

Match 3: Amitasha United FC vs. Divyansh Steel’s Slum Soccer
Amitasha United and Divyansh Steel’s Slum Soccer played out a thrilling match with both goalkeepers making crucial saves and being the deciding factors. Amitasha took the early lead on through a goal by Pankaj Mahajan. However, Slum Soccer came back with 3 brilliant goals to win the match. Amitasha United team is formed by individuals who had little team chemistry while the Slum Soccer players have been playing together for a long time. This team coordination was the deciding factor. The goals came from Badal, Anikesh and Vikas.

Match 4 Nujster’s Slum Soccer B vs Pablo’s Greenhouse FC
This was another tightly contested affair between 2 equally matched sides; however Nujster’s Slum Soccer B came out on top because of their fitness levels and stamina.  Slum Soccer led the game throughout and scored the goals in regular intervals. However, Pablo’s GHFC managed to score a consolation goal which came from Archit. The scorers from slum soccer were Bunty, Sohail, Arbaz and Rajesh.

Match 5: Galaxy FC vs Bijlee Spartans
In the match between Galaxy FC and Bijlee Spartans, Galaxy were attacking well in the starting minutes and created some good opportunities. In the 7th minute, Galaxy took the lead after Vedant Babar calmly chipped the ball over Spartans’ goalkeeper. Spartans went all attack, as they were looking for an equalizer. In the 20th minute, Charuksh Ingole rounded the keeper and placed the ball in the bottom right corner. In the final minutes of the game, Bijlee Spartans counter attacked and, Saurabh who came as a substitute, put the ball in the bottom right corner giving Bijlee Spartans all 3 points.
