Karuna Dahiwale clinched the badminton title of women’s competition at the 43rd All India Electricity Sports Control Board held at Erode, Tamil Nadu recently.
Karuna, an employee of Khaparkheda power station of Maharashtra State Electricity Generation Company Limited (Mahagenco) defeated Anita Singh of Chhattisgarh in the final match to bag the title.
After losing the first set with 12-15, Karuna won the second and third sets with 15-10, 15-12 respectively securing gold medal in the women’s single badminton.
In the preliminary rounds Karuna won the first match against Bihar team by 15-10, 15-10. In the second match, she defeated Tamil Nadu by 15-8, 15-6. She defeated Telangana Genco by 15-11, 15-13 in the quarter finals and qualified for the finals defeating Madhya Pradesh by 15-12, 16-14.
On her success, Karuna was felicitated by Chief Engineer of Khaparkheda power plant Rajesh Patil. Deputy Chief Engineers Rajendra Raut and Manohar Khandekar were prominently present on the occasion.
Karuna expressed gratitude to Mahagenco for providing her all the facilities besides senior officials and colleagues for their encouragement.
A large number of Mahagenco officials were present on the occasion. Angha Chirde conducted the programme and proposed a vote of thanks.
