By virtue of first innings lead, Vidarbha defeated Rest of India to retain Irani Trophy at VCA Jamtha Stadium on Saturday.
When Vidarbha required 11 runs for outright victory, both the captains surprisingly  decided to shake hands and the match ended in a draw. Since Vidarbha took first Innings lead, they walked away with victory. Ganesh Satish (87, 168 b, 9×4, 1×6) )played a wonderful knock to ensure the victory. Young Atharva Taide (72, 185 b, 8×4, 1×6) who made best use of opportunity to lead Vidarbha towards an emphatic victory. Requiring 243 runs more for the victory , R Sanjay (42, 131 b, 4×4, 1×6) and young Atharwa Taide started the proceedings on positive note on overnight score of 37 for 1 and  played out crucial first hour.
Taide smashed first six of the day to Rahul Chahar on midwicket in 34th over and the now it was a turn of R Sanjay to go for big off Jadeja in 36th over. In the process Taide, playing only fifth first class match completed his second half century. Rahul Chahar gave much needed breakthrough to ROI by ending the resistance of Sanjay Ramaswamy by trapping him in front of stumps with 116 runs were on board. Both Ramaswamy and Taide made a partnership of 116 run for the first wicket after skipper Faiz Fazal’s departure on duck yesterday.
