Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur and VNIT Alumni Association (VNITAA) have jointly organised a programme to give away Alumni Awards. Union Minister for Road Transport and  Highways, Shipping Nitin Gadkari will be the chief guest. Eminent nuclear scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr Anil Kakodkar and founder SEARCH, Gadchiroli, Padmashri Dr Abhay Bang  will grace the function to be held on Sunday at 8.30 am at VNIT auditorium.
The awards will be given to the alumni who have brought laurels to the alma matter, in nine different categories ranging from R&D, defence, entrepreneurship, business management, academics to young achiever category.
VNITAlumni Association has more than 21,000 Alumni spread across the globe. Head quartered at Nagpur, VNIT Alumni Association has chapters in India and the USA. Alumni from various parts of the world like Canada, USA, India and Singapore will be attending the function.
This event will also witness inauguration of new G + 6 classroom complex of 30 class rooms, each having a capacity to accommodate about 150 students. The complex has been built to accommodate the continuously increasing intake of the students.
Moreover, an exhibition hall will be inaugurated. All the technologies developed at VNIT for the benefit of rural areas, differently abled people, other sections of the society will be on display at the hall.
