“Indian culture is not that of me, but we. Bharat celebrates diversity. It is only in Bharat that one can see people of all faiths and religions staying together. However, Post-independence there has been a practice among people to deny their origin. We first need to become what we are and then only we will find ourselves,†expressed joint general secretary, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (sah-sarkaryawaah), Dr Manmohan Vaidya, while speaking at ‘Idea of Bharat’ organised by Manthan organisation at Chitnavis Centre on Sunday.
Giving an example of the difference of perspectives towards a topic, Dr Vaidya said Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had different perspective of Bharat.
The act if restoring Bharat for both of them differed.
Dr Vaidya expressed that Bharat is a view of life and it is unique. He also added that Bharatiyan way of life does not debate between tolerance and intolerance but, goes beyond tolerance. India has a culture that celebrates diversity. We have spiritual democracy, he added.
“While thinking we must not focus upon ‘me’ and work upon expanding circumference to include ‘we’. One must work for the society thinking that it belongs to them, only then society and the people will prosper,†added Dr Vaidya.
Speaking upon the recent times, Dr Vaidya opined that peoples’ connection to roots have started fading. There are people who have distanced themselves from the nation and their roots have started fading. This results into them raising the anti-national slogans.
Dr Vaidya advised the audience to identify the Bharat they live in and connect with roots.
