South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited and Mini Ratna Public Sector created a record by supplying highest quantity of coal in one single day.
On February 20, the company dispatched 5 lakh tonnes of coal. According to SECL, coal in such a huge quantity has not been dispatched in one day by any of the companies. The coal production on the day was also highest in the year 2018-19 that of 5,20,000 tonnes, the company informed.
On earlier occasions too, SECL while following the production target has achieved outstanding results. The company achieved 100 million tonnes of production of coal on December 5, 2018 of which 90 million tonnes is explored through open cast mines and the remaining through underground mining.
While dispatching the coal, SECL lays emphasis on its quality. The company recorded 10 per cent increase in the coal supplied to power plants. It may be mentioned that last year too, SECL was the highest coal producer company producing 144.70 million tonnes of coal.
