The works under corporate social responsibility (CSR) carried out by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) have brought smiles on the faces of tribal artisans.
SECL Bilaspur through its CSR works, carried out white washing, beautification works besides putting RCC benches for sitting arrangements at the Chhattisgarh Haat area of marketing centres of Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board in Raipur.
SECL also made arrangements of spot lights, outdoor audio systems. The first installment for all these works was released recently. This initiative by SECL will encourage over 500 tribal artisans besides, other ventures of the Chhattisgarh Handicraft Development Board. The board was set up in 2001 by the Chhattisgarh government with an objective to encourage the traditional art and provide a source of employment to the artisans and a market to their products. The board also makes constant efforts to revive the age-old art and empower the artisans. It has started shops named Shabri in different states of the country.
