City swimmers Aradya Bomble and Riddhi Bire achieved first and second positions respectively in the 57th State level Sea Swimming Competition held at Mumbai.
The event was organised by MSAAA at Mumbai Gate Way of India on Sunday. Around 300 swimmers from all over the state had participated in the said competition. In Under-10 boys group, Aaradya Bomble crossed 1 km distance in 12.40 minutes and claimed a gold medal and cash prize of Rs 2,500. Similarly Sparsh Dhabekar crossed the same distance in 16.34 minutes and stood fifth.
In Under-12 girls section, Riddhi Bire, completed two kilometer distance in 18.27 seconds to win the silver medal and cash prize of Rs 1500. Another swimmer Prerna Chaple took 19. 45 minutes to finish fourth.
All the swimmers practiced regularly under the guidance from NIS coach Sanjay Batwe of Shark Aquatic Sporting Association. Shark Aquatic Club President, Pradip Keche, Vice- President Dnyaneshwar Dhakulkar, Labour Welfare Commissioner, Satish Dabhade, Manager Arun Kapse, Dr. Anil Karwande, President Krida Bharti Vidarbha Dr. Sharad Suryawanshi, NMC Standing Committee Chairman, Nagesh Sahare, Corporater, Satish Hole, Pappu Thakur and others have congratulated the swimmers.
