Nagpur district athletes dominated the first day and won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in Maharashtra State Sub-Junior Athletics Championship at Dervan in Chiplun on Saturday.
In the 60 m running, Ananya Mangar of Kalpavriksha Krida Mandal, Kamptee clinched gold in Under-8 category. Sushant Singh, a student of Sangrila Hills High School, Hingna secured silver medal in Under-10 boys category.
Krida Prabodhini students Vikas Valvi and Mukesh Wasave bagged silver and bronze medals respectively in 300 m race. They have been trained under the guidance of Aruna Gandhe.
In Under-12 girls category, Trupti Manwatkar,a member of Golden Star Academy, Parshivni achieved third place in shot put. In the same age group Kashish Bhagat jumped 3.00 m in long jump and finished seventh.
Lifetime president of Nagpur District Athletics Association Dr Babanrao Taiwade, LR Malviya, Dr Sharad Suryavanshi, and others have congratulated the athletes and wished them best luck.
