Vidarbha defeated Gujarat by five wickets to enter the quarterfinals in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Twenty 20 Cricket Tournament at Surat on Saturday.
With this win Vidarbha topped group B with 20 points and entered quarters.
Vidarbha chased the target of 122 losing five wickets in 18.2 overs. At one stage they were struggling on 67 for five but then skipper Faiz Fazal (39) and young Rishabh Rathod (37) made an unbroken partnership of 55 runs for the sixth wicket to ensure the victory. Wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma contributed 17.
Earlier Gujarat scored 121 for 6 in 20 overs. Priyank Panchal top scored with 38 whereas Axar Patel remained not out on 24. Chirag Gandhi too batted well and scored 30.
For Vidarbha Atharwa Taide got two wickets for 16.
