Nagpur hosted ‘Allergy & Asthma – National Update 2019’, a national conference on allergy and asthma management on March 2 and 3rd, 2019. This was the 4th annual national update organised by Department of Pulmonology, KRIMS Hospitals.
The two-day event with hands-on workshop with international and national faculty to elaborate on newer techniques in allergy and asthma management, was organised in association with Association of Physicians of India (Vidarbha Chapter), Vidarbha Dermatological Society and was endorsed by Indian Chest Society.
The first day began with academic session followed by hands on workshop with eminent faculty like Dr S Z Jafrey from Indore, Dr Neerja Shastri from Pune, Dr Vikrant Saoji, Dr R B Deshmukh, Dr Sushil Pande and Dr Jayesh Timane from Nagpur. The topics for the first day included allergy, skin allergies and rhinitis.
The second day started with a CPC meeting addressed by Dr Sachin Suryawanshi, Professor Emeritus and Dr Shankar Khobragade. The clinical session included talks by international faculty Dr Randolf Brehler from Germany who talked on various aspects of diagnosing allergy. Dr Major K Nagraju from Chennai covered various aspects of allergy and asthma management in paediatric cases.
Dr  Raja Dhar from Kolkata, Dr Sanjeev Mehta from Mumbai and Dr V. Rajesh from Coimbatore presented talks on management of asthma. Pulmonologits from Nagpur, Dr Sameer Arbat was faculty for talk on Bronchial Thermoplasty, which is the new advanced bronchoscopy procedure for treatment of asthma. This was followed by a panel discussion with all faculty members discussing the topics with the delegates.
Stalwarts of medical world including Dr Uday Bodhankar, paediatrician from Nagpur, attended the inauguration ceremony. The conference also marked the release of Res-Q, bulletin by Department of Pulmonology, KRIMS Hospitals. This is the first respiratory newsletter from Vidarbha region. More than 300 delegates from all over the country attended the conference.
The conference also had quiz competition and free oral presentation for post graduate students. KRIMS Hospitals is regularly involved in conducting academic activities bringing advancements in medical filed to Nagpur city.
