Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that IIM Nagpur will become the best IIM in the country. He further said that world class facilities will be provided at the campus. There is a confluence of industry, trade and commerce in Mihan. Passenger and cargo hub will come in future.
Fadnavis said that GST has created a market system in the country. In the coming days Nagpur is poised to become country’s logistic hub. Fadnavis said the Maharashtra Airport Development Company Ltd under which MIHAN falls, has done an important job for the project-affected persons.
The building will be constructed in a shape of an orange and the campus will be spread across in 132 acres. The first phase construction on 14.9 acre land will be completed within 18 months.
“Many a time, people whose land we acquire are left out of the development process. This is not the case here (in MIHAN) and all development is being done by taking along sons of the soil here.â€
“This is our model of inclusive growth in which the last man standing is the part of development,” he said. He further said that employment is being given to the project-hit people of Mihan in companies coming here.
Union minister for surface transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that local youths should get preference in jobs in the region. He also asserted that the government would bring a strong legislation to ensure that locals get maximum benefit of new projects coming in the region.
Gadkari was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of the permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur.
“Bhumiputras (sons of soil) should get employment in the projects here at MIHAN (Multi-modal International Hub Airport),” he said adding that at least 1.25 lakh jobs will be created through the development of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) near Mumbai in the next few years.
“I have given directions (to authorities) to ensure that at least 80 per cent of these jobs in the JNPT be given to locals from the coastal Konkan region,” he said.
