Developmental works are done taking along the last man in the chain. Keeping this in mind, we have resolved to develop the city under the leadership of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. As a result, the city has achieved true and all round development, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was speaking after performing the bhoomipujan of DP road from Geetanjali Square to Gandhisagar.
The programme was held near Hotel Rajwada Palace, which was presided over by Union Minister for Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari. Guardian Minister of the district Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mayor Nanda Jichkar, MLAs Vikas Kumbhare, Sudhakar Kohale, Dr Milind Mane, former MLA Mohan Mate, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar, senior corporator Daya Shankar Tiwari, former mayor Pravin Datke, Chairperson, Gandhibag Zone; Vandana Yangatwar, Chairperson; Dhantoli Zone; Vishakha Baante, corporators Adv Sanjay Balpande, Sarla Nayak and Vidya Kanhere were present on the occasion.
Fadnavis said all the areas have witnessed remarkable development with Gadkari’s initiatives. The proposal put forward before the government to restore the past glory of Gandhisagar has been approved. Funds for the first phase have been sanctioned, he informed, adding if needed more amount would be provided.
He said I sanction the demand by senior corporator Daya Shankar Tiwari for E-library at this juncture itself. If the NMC sends a proposal in this regard before the code of conduct come into effect, it will be approved immediately, Fadnavis assured.
Readymade zone in three months: Gadkari
An international readymade garment zone will come up on the land near Empress Mall within next three months, said Gadkari. He said he had moved a proposal to this effect years ago. However, with the change in power, the proposal gathered dust. The garment zone will provide employment to 10,000 women through stitching work, he said.
The tendering process is in progress and it would be an international level garment zone, Gadkari informed.
Tiwari in his introductory speech informed about the developmental works carried out in Prabhag 19. As many as 13 beneficiaries were allotted ownership titles under Slum Rehabilitation Authority Scheme. Similarly, four of them were given demand note by Gadkari and Fadnavis.
Earlier, Fadnavis performed bhoomipujan of the road by breaking the ground and unveiling the plaque. Chaman Prajapati conducted the programme, which was attended by a large number of officials, party workers and local residents.
