International Women’s Day celebrated at NMC
Women have given justice all the roles they have played and have discharged their duties and responsibilities sincerely and successfully. Now, they have set a mark for themselves in various professions also, said Mayor Nanda Jichkar.
She was delivering the presidential address at a programme organised at the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) main office by Women and Child Development Committee along with Social Welfare Department in Civil Lines to mark International Women’s Day.
Chairperson; Women and Child Welfare Committee; Pragati Patil, Deputy Leader in NMC; Varsha Thakre, Deputy Chairperson; Women and Child Welfare Committee; Vishakha Mohod, Pratod Divya Dhurde, Nodal Officer of PCPNDC Dr Bhawna Sonkusle were seated on the dais. Renowned announcer of All India Radio Shraddha Bharadwaj was the chief guest.
Chairperson; Dhantoli Zone; Vishakha Baante, Chairperson; Nehru Nagar Zone; Rita Muley, Chairperson, Aashinagar Zone, Vandana Chandekar, corporator Pallavi Shamkule, Sonali Kadu, Jayshree Wadibhasme, Bharati Bunde, Adv Meenakshi Telgote, Kanta Rarokar, Manisha Dhawade, Vaishali Rohankar, Abhiruchi Rajgire, Vaishali Narnavare, Mangala Lanjewar, Viranka Bhivgade, Manisha Kothe, Deputy Commissioner Dr Ranjana Lade  and Deputy Engineer Kalpana Meshram graced the occasion.
Speaking further Ms Jichkar said, today women are leading in all the sectors be it political or administration. Today is the day to honour the woman power, she said.
Ms Bharadwaj narrated five stories about women character and appealed to the women to increase their inner strength. The other guests also spoke on the occasion.
The programme began with Saraswati vandana and garlanding the photo of Savitribai Phule. Kalpana Meshram in her introductory remarks briefed the objective of the programme. Jyotasna Deshmukh conducted the programme while Sharada Gadkar proposed a vote of thanks.
Sharda Gadkar, Jyotsana Deshmukh, Nutan More, Vinay Trikolwar, Shekhar Pachode, Vikas Bagde and other employees worked hard for the success of the programme.
Successful women from different sectors were felicitated on the occasion. The women included Deepti Kushwah, Varsha Shamkule, Shabana Doke, Nitu Mishra, Ranjana Panchbuddhe, Priya Sarve, Jyoti Hukre, Bharati Itankar, Latika Made-Lekurwale, Lata Shirpurkar, Sangita Narwade, Rama Mahure, Dr Sunita Dhote, Sushma Mankar, Gauri Sharma and Ranjana Panchbuddhe.
The NMC along with its Health Department organised a health check-up camp on the occasion. A large number of women were examined at the camp. Later a cleanliness drive was also run in the NMC campus.
