Forget the sweat…and get ready for some music and masti, dance and gaana, roothna-manana, and all that comes with an Indian wedding. People run away from summer weddings, and we all know why. And, if that ‘why’ is taken care of, then summer weddings can be an easy breezy affair. This ‘why’ is a two edged sword- soaring temperatures and wedding outfits. And in a summer wedding, they have to go together. We cannot do anything about the sweltering heat but what we can definitely do is plan our outfits to beat the heat and yet look like a million bucks.
So, let’s put the summer yellows away and make sure to celebrate your special day in style. Let the sun shine and let the ‘you’ shine!
Â
- Getting in shape and getting the right skin
Getting in shape is actually easier in summers than in any other month. Avoid oily junk foods, direct sunlight, and unknown skin products. Keep yourself well hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and exercise right. Do a detox diet if possible to get a fresh glow on your face.
- Wedding day make-up
Wear water-proof, smudge free make-up and stick to peachy shimmery shades or pastel matts instead of heavy paint jobs, says Darshana, founder and owner of Disha Beauty Parlor, Nagpur. To avoid make-up from melting, apply a primer to form a barrier between your skin and make-up. The trend is to define and accentuate your eyes and keep the lips subtle. Keep tissues, loose translucent powder and other make-up essentials handy for frequent touch-ups.
Â
- Choosing the right color palette for outfits
This summer is all about Greys and Old Rose and the gorgeous Jades and Beetroot colors, says Nikita Mhaisalkar, leading designer from Nagpur.
- Picking up the right wedding outfit
“It’s the day you’ve been waiting for and you definitely need to look The Brideâ€! exhorts Nikita. She continues, “So I would say, do not compromise on the details and grandeur of the outfit, just because mercury is soaring high. Choose a breathable fabric like organic hemp silk and choose embellishments that are super light in weight like the crystals and silk threads. So let it be grand but chose wisely.â€
Â
- The right kind of fabrics for summer wedding functions; haldi, cocktail
The fabric that Nikita highly recommends for wedding is organic hemp silk. In her opinion, “it is super luxe and yet, super breathable and it renders freshness.†For haldi, she suggests, “cotton mul mul and organic hemp handloom. These fabric choices can be both for the bride as well as the groom.†For cocktail, “tulle remains my favorite! It’s super light in weight and therefore very comfortable for the bride to let her sail through a long night of dance and celebration†exclaims Nikita. Chantelle lace and Banarasi lace is also a good pick for the cocktail since it imparts chic and a modern look.
So, get your wedding crew ready, and reach out for that chilled martini coz we are not only summer ready but we are wedding ready!
