The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Nagpur police seized 20.9 kilogram of ganja worth Rs 2 lakhs and arrested a person in this connection on Monday. The name of the arrested has been given as Raibirender Singh Kirpal Singh (52), resident of Urpada, district Sambhalpur, Orissa.
According to police, constable Tulsidas Shukla of Anti-Narcotics Cell got a tip off that a person would be coming with huge stock of ganja at Pardi Road near Gattani Seva Niketan Building under the jurisdiction of Kalmana police station. He then informed his team and the Anti-Narcotics Cell after completing all the formalities laid a trap.
Accordingly, when Raibirender Singh arrived at the spot, he was detained and on further search a sack containing 20 kilograms and 900 grams of ganja worth Rs 2,09,300 was seized from his possession along with cash of Rs 300. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Nikam constable Tulsidas Shukla, Datta Bagul, Pradip Pawar, Satish Patil Nitin Mishra, Nitin Salunke and Rubina Sheikh conducted the operation under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sudhir Nandanwar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nilesh Bharne, Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Kadam and Commissioner of Police Dr Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay.
