The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) Senate approved budget of Rs 382.89 crore at its meeting on Thursday.
Senior member of Senate and Head; MBA Department; Dr Vinayak Deshpande presented the budget.
As per the budget, RTMNU will spend more funds on development of campus and its exam section than other works. According to the budget, university has made a provision of 20.38% of total budget on development of its Post Graduate Teaching Department at Campus and 20.35% on exam related works.
Looking into the proposed visit of the peer team of National Accredation and Assessment Council (NAAC) next year for reassessment, the university has made a provision of Rs 10 crore for renovation of its building and premises. During budget speech, Dr Deshpande said university proposes computerisation of all the departments and digitalisation of records besides installation of CCTV for security reasons. A provision of Rs 8 crore has been made in the budget this year for the purpose, Deshpande informed.
Moreover, provision of Rs 1.65 crore for promoting research activities and Rs 1 crore for research fellowships have also been made in the budget. Similarly, an amount of Rs 5 lakh for the student guidance centre, Rs 2 crore for improvement of hostels and Rs 5 cr have been allocated for providing facilities to Divyang students.
While discussing the budget, members demanded that university should spend more amount on students welfare schemes because the main source of university income comes through fees, which is paid by the students.. Replying to these demands, Dr. Deshpande assured the House that he will take due care of their suggestions following which the university Senate passed the budget.
