The police arrested five persons and seized weapons and other material worth Rs 3 lakh from them. All the five were arrested from Yashodhara Nagar by the special squad formed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone V Harssh Poddar.
The names of the arrested were given as Abdul Shafik Abdul Hafiz (32), resident of Subhan Nagar, Kalmana, Abdul Rafiq Abdul Hafiz (34), resident of Subhan Nagar, Kalmana, Mohammed Irfan Mohammed Wahab (41), resident of resident of Subhan Nagar, Kalmana, Sheikh Nazir Sheikh Bashir (34), resident of Subhan Nagar, Kalmana and Mohammed Shakil Mohammed Shabbir (31), resident of sufiyan Nagar Nagpuri Gate, Amravati.
The police got a tip off that some people were moving in a white Indica car with weapons. The police then laid a trap and stopped the car. On checking the police recovered three sharp edged knives, one Chinese knives, a sword, six mobile phones and cash collectively worth Rs 3,10,150.
The police arrested all the five persons and registered offences under section 4/25 of Arms Act.
The operation was carried out by PSI Vinod Dhongde, PSI Madhav Shinde, Constable Rajkumar Janbandhu, Pankaj Lande, Suraj Bharati, Dinesh Yadav, Prabhakar Mankar, Vinod Sontakke, Ravindra Raut, Mrudul Nagre and Ashok Dube.
Man robbed off gold chain
One Nishant Rajesh Thakur (21), resident of Kapil Nagar in Jaripatka was robbed off his gold chain worth Rs 30000 and a silver chain from his friend worth Rs 5,000 while they were going on their two-wheeler. The incident occurred at Indora Suare when four unidentified youths coming from behind snatched the gold chain and silver chain.
Police have registered an offence against unidentified persons. Further investigations are on.
House breaking
Some unidentified thieves broke open lock of a house of Yogendra Shyamrao Khobragade, a resident of Modern Town Duplex 1, under the jurisdiction of Yashodhara Nagar police station and escaped with gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1,39500.
The incident occurred when Khobragade had gone to Dongargarh. When he returned he found the lock of his door broken and ornaments stolen. He then lodged a complaint with the police. The police have registered an offence. Further investigations are on.
