This is an inspiring story of a miracle baby born to a simple couple. Destiny had weaved a compelling story that changed the lives of this middle aged couple from Mandla, Madhya Pradesh. Battling with secondary infertility for 16 years, the distressed couple came to Nagpur to consult Dr. Shilpi Sud, with a simple dream to complete their family as they had heard about her excellent results in low cost fertility treatment for challenging patients.

Advanced age of the female, financial constraints and far off native place was a major factor in undertaking their fertility treatment. But the eager couple which stood together against all adversities and social stigmas attached with late conception kept their hopes high and underwent fertility treatment at Dr. Shilpi Sud’s Safal Hospital at Congress Nagar, Nagpur. Within a short span of treatment successfully performed with Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART), Dr. Shilpi Sud brought a ray of hope to the couple in their very first attempt. However nature had it’s own plans.
The woman was in her 40’s and had conceived the baby after 16 long years of secondary infertility developed hypertension from 5th month of pregnancy, severe uteroplacental insufficiency, reduced amniotic fluid and impaired baby growth. Owing to these growing complications Dr.Shilpi Sud had to take the tough decision to terminate pregnancy at 28 weeks of gestation. Not to be deterred by the challenges standing large, Dr.Shilpi relentlessly monitored the patient with every small details being noted and taken care of. The patient and her husband were counseled thoroughly to come to terms with the situation and go ahead for the emergency procedure.
Rather than passively waiting and let uncertainty take over, Dr. Shilpi Sud took over the situation with exemplary confidence and successfully performed a pre-term delivery which proved to be a lifesaver for the baby and boon for the parents.
Having kept full faith in Dr. Shilpi Sud’s line of treatment, the couple willingly agreed to their Doctor’s call. The patient gave birth through C-section and the procedure was uneventful with no complications to the mother. The baby was born at 28 weeks gestation and is the mother’s second child.
At birth the baby had a very poor respiration level so efforts were made to resuscitate the baby. Due to breathing difficulty, the baby was kept on non-invasive respiratory support (C-PAP) machine at a Children’s Hospital. Following which the baby’s breathing became stable at Day 3 and so the pediatrician put him on normal oxygen support.
From day 1 the baby was put on parenteral nutrition and nasogastric feeding which boosted early weight gain of the baby and it also helped to provide regular nutrition. This miracle small baby managed to overcome complications with minimum respiratory support and aggressive nutrition.
In approx. 2 months time, the happy and relieved parents were able to take the baby home with a weight of two kg. The mother and baby are doing absolutely fine now and leading a normal life.
