The Vidarbha unit of Aam Admi Party (AAP) has demanded to open the newly constructed road connecting Ajni bridge with Rahate Colony and Deekshabhoomi at the earliest.
In a memorandum submitted to Municipal Commissioner, AAP Nagpur Organising Secretary; Ashok Mishra stated that the road was dedicated to the public before the model code of conduct came into force. However, all of a sudden the road was closed last week.
On the other hand, cement road work is in progress on a stretch between Ajni bridge to Congress Nagar T-Point to Rahate Colony. As a result, the residents of South Nagpur going towards South-West Nagpur, West Nagpur or Wardha Road are led to face a number of difficulties. The newly constructed road was an alternative road to both the stretches. Its closure, particularly in the wake of traffic congestion is not proper, Mishra said.
Mishra pointed out that when he enquired with Metro Rail, he was told the Metro had no problem from their side in opening up of the road. On the other hand, the NMC administration closed the road citing problems of signal, Mishra added.
There are a number of important squares where traffic signals are not functioning. Hence closing the road on the pretext of a signal is not proper, he said, demanding to open the new road immediately.
