Who says that skin care is only a women’s territory? Boys and men in present times are equally aware and conscious of the health of their skin. Its high time Indian men take their health, skin and their wardrobes seriously. In fact, more and more men are doing it already and we couldn’t be happier! However, skin care does take a back seat when you’re on a vacation or during long haul flights.
Whether you’re seated in first class or economy, airplane travel can wreak havoc on your skin. The recirculated air in the cabins combined with jet lag makes your skin puffy, dry, irritated and intensely dehydrated. You don’t want to look worn out and haggard when you step out of that plane.
We have some tips that would make you arrive looking handsome after a long haul flight.
1. DRY AND DEHYDRATED SKIN
The air in most cabins is only 20% humid. This sucks all the essential goodness out of your skin- causing extreme dehydration and dullness, especially around eyes, nose and lips. To combat this, carry a moisturizer with you and make sure you moisturize your skin before and during the long flights. Also, since, you don’t want to have dry and chapped lips, carry a lip balm. It’s a must!
2. STAY AWAY FROM ALCOHOL
Guys do not over-indulge on alcohol. It is very dehydrating and takes away the moisture out of your skin. While it’s tempting to head straight for the free booze, it may cause more damage to your skin in the air than on the ground. Instead, increase your water intake for sufficient hydration. Even flight attendants and other frequent flyers swear by drinking around 2 litres of water before, during and after long flights. It’s the best way to keep both your skin and your body adequately hydrated.
3. SLEEP
You may not get the best sleep on a plane, but try to doze off anyway. It is tremendously beneficial- keeps your skin looking fresh and makes you look good upon arrival. And if you are one of those who cannot bring yourself to sleep, try these:
- Noise-cancelling Headphones
They reduce the unwanted sounds and noises around you and you can hear what you want and silence the rest.
- Sleep Mask
Wearing a comfortable sleep mask will also improve the quality of your sleep on a long flight. Choose one that doesn’t press too much against your face. Since, sleep masks are lightweight and soft on the skin; they have a soothing effect and are comfortable to help you count those sheep on long haul flights.
Follow these simple steps and you’ll be arriving at your destination looking like a well-travelled pro!
 BON VOYAGE!
