World Autism Awareness Day –April 2nd          Â
Department of Anatomy, AIIMS Nagpur conducted a program to mark the world autism awareness day.
The program was aimed at creating awareness amongst medical students and community at large. SM, Director, AIIMS, Major general Dr. Vibha Dutta addressed the gathering with a community outreach perspective of autism in a downright way.
Teachers from Gyan Vikas Madhyamic vidyalaya, Manavata high school and Vishwas Madhyamic vidyalaya participated and got introduced to Indian tool of autism for deducting autism in school children by Associate professor of preventive and social medicine, AIIMS, Nagpur, Dr. Ranjan Solanki.
Management of autistic children by occupational therapy was candidly explained by Dr.LeenaDeshpande, Associate professor, OT school of GMC, Nagpur. Following was an expert panel discussion about autism spectrum disorders and its multi-disciplinary management .
The Panel constituted of Associate Professor of Paediatrics, GMC, Dr. Urmila Chauhan, Associate Professor psychiatry GMC, Dr. Manish Thakre, Associate Professor, OT school of GMC, Dr.Leena Deshpande and Assistant Professor Department of speech therapy GMC, Prafull Shinde The deliberation was thought provoking and dispelling various myths and misconceptions about autism.
Poster competition for medical graduates added to the creativity and scientific temper of the program.
The students and faculties of AIIMS Nagpur participated and showed their commitment towards this cause with blue attire and made the program meaningful.
