The SST constituted by the Election Commission has seized Rs 2.30 lakh in cash at Daryapur and Rs one lakh from a vehicle at Morshi tehsil in Amravati district. The action was taken by the team of Nikhil Rathod, Pawan Pawar and Dinesh Shirkar. Sources said, they intercepted a car at Karla check-post.
During examination, cash worth Rs 2.30 lakh was found. Gaurav Rawankar was driving the car; however, he was not the owner of the car. The four-wheeler was registered in the name of one Prakash Goenka. The entire amount was deposited in government treasury.
In another incident, SST recovered Rs one lakh from a car at Ambada check post. One Dilip Patil, 50, a resident of Salbuldi was driving the car. Sources said, he was unable to give satisfactory reply to the queries raised by the SST, following which entire amount was seized and deposited in the treasury.
Rs 8.30 lakh seized in Warora
The joint team of Election Commission flying squad and Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Warora police have seized Rs 8.30 lakh from a private bus. The cash was recovered from one Anil Sharma, a tobacco trader and lottery centre owner. Sources said that the joint team intercepted the bus on Khambada road. It was going towards Nagpur. The Income Tax department was also informed.
