Mumbai and Bengal set up a summit clash in Women Under-23 One-Day League at VCA Civil Lines and Kalamna ground on Friday.
At Kalamna ground riding on skipper Jemimah Rodrigues’s unbeaten century (185) Mumbai drubbed Himachal Pradesh by huge margin of 138 runs to enter the final. Batting first, Mumbai scored 254 four four in 50 overs.Jemimah, leading from the front, slammed 185 in 139 balls with the help of 29 boundaries and four sixes. Mumbai’s batting was basically revolved around her. Vrushali Bhagat (40, 74b, 5×4, 1×6) and Manjiri Gawde (16) gave her good company.
In reply, Himachal lost their wickets at regular interval and were all out for 125 in 33.4 overs. Thanks to Sanya Raut who ripped through the batting line up and claimed five wicket haul conceding 19 runs. For Himachal only opener Harleen Deol (21) and Kashish Verma (17) offered some resistance.
At VCA Civil Lines ground, Bengal defeated Delhi by 57 runs. Batting first Bengal scored 203 for nine in 50 overs. Openers Deepti (57, 69b, 5×4, 1×6) and Richa (44, 106b, 7×4) gave them flying start making 94 run partnership for first wicket. Then Mamta (38 not out) and Pravita (27) played well and ensured Bengal to cross 200-run mark. For Delhi, Sonia Lohia (4 for 41) was the main wicket taker.
In reply, Delhi could able to score 146 for nine in 50 overs. After losing four wickets for just 24 runs, Neha Chhillar (41, 65b, 6×4) and Ayushi Soni (38) made some efforts but in vain. For Bengal, Sushmita Ganguly (3 for 16) and N Mahi (2 for 24) were the most successful bowlers.
The final between Mumbai and Bengal will be played on Sunday at VCA Civil Lines from 9 a.m. onwards.
