City swimmers Rutuja Talegaonkar and Himani Fadke have been selected in the Indian team for the tenth Asian Open Water Swimming Championship slated to be held in Kuwait from April 19 to 21.
Rutuja and Himani got the nod in the ten-member Indian team on the basis of their dazzling performance in the domestic swimming competitions. The team consisted of six boys and four girls.
While Rutuja will compete in the 10-km event, Himani will represent the country in the 5-km event.
The team will be leaving for Kuwait from Bengaluru on April 17 and will return on April 22. Both the city girls are members of Sharq Aquatic Sporting Association and train under coach Sanjay Batwe at Raghuji Nagar-based Kamgar Kalyan Mandal Swimming Pool and NIT Swimming Pool, Ambazari Road.
